शुक्रवार को भारतीय हॉकी के 100 साल पूरे होने के अवसर पर खेल मंत्री रेखा आर्या ने हल्द्वानी स्थित मानसखंड खेल परिसर में हॉकी खिलाड़ियों के साथ खेल में हाथ आजमाएं। इस मौके पर यहां एक प्रदर्शनी मैच का आयोजन भी किया गया।

खेल मंत्री रेखा आर्या शुक्रवार को बिना पूर्व निर्धारित कार्यक्रम के गोलापुर स्टेडियम पहुंची और वहां हॉकी खिलाड़ियों से मिलकर उन्हें शुभकामनाएं दी। खेल मंत्री रेखा आर्या ने खिलाड़ियों को बताया कि आज ही के दिन 1925 में भारतीय हॉकी महासंघ की स्थापना की गई थी। इसके बाद भारतीय हॉकी टीम ने पहली बार 1928 के ओलंपिक में हिस्सा लिया और गोल्ड मेडल जीतकर पूरी दुनिया में भारतीय हॉकी का परचम फहराया।

खेल मंत्री रेखा आर्या ने खिलाड़ियों से कहा कि एक जमाने में दुनिया की कोई भी टीम भारतीय हॉकी टीम के साथ खेलने में डरती थी। उन्होंने कहा कि युवा हॉकी खिलाड़ी भारतीय हॉकी का यह पुराना गौरव वापस लाने का संकल्प लेकर तैयारी करें तो फिर से ऐसी सफलता पाई जा सकती है।

उन्होंने कहा कि उत्तराखंड में हॉकी का कल्चर तेजी से विकसित हो रहा है और आधुनिक दौर में भी प्रदेश ने वंदना कटारिया जैसे खिलाड़ी दिए हैं।

 

उन्होंने कहा कि अगले ओलंपिक के लिए भारतीय हॉकी टीम में प्रदेश का भी अच्छा प्रतिनिधित्व रहे, यह लक्ष्य लेकर खिलाड़ी तैयारी करें।

 

इस अवसर पर सहायक निदेशक रसिका सिद्दकी, जिला उप खेल अधिकारी वरुण बेलवाल आदि उपस्थित रहे।
