देहरादून, । सरकार उत्तराखंड को खेल भूमि के रूप में स्थापित करने को संकल्पबद्ध है। सीएम धामी ने सोमवार को महाराणा प्रताप स्पोर्ट्स कॉलेज रायपुर देहरादून में भारत के एकमात्र अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर के आइस रिंक के जीर्णोद्धार कार्यों का लोकार्पण के दौरान यह बात कही। यह उत्तराखंड के लिए एक बड़ी उपलब्धि है। यह आइस स्केटिंग रिंक न केवल उत्तराखंड बल्कि संपूर्ण भारत के लिए किसी उपलब्धि से कम नहीं है।
मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने कहा कि वर्ष 2011 में बने इस आइस स्केटिंग रिंक में साउथ-इस्टर्न एशियन विंटर गेम्स आयोजित हुए थे, जिसमें भारत के साथ ही भूटान, नेपाल, मालदीव और श्रीलंका जैसे कई देशों के खिलाड़ियों ने प्रतिभाग किया था। बाद में इस रिंक पर कोई ध्यान नहीं दिया गया जिस कारण इसको बंद कर दिया गया था लेकिन हमारी सरकार ने देवभूमि उत्तराखंड को खेल भूमि के रूप में स्थापित करने के अपने मिशन के अंतर्गत इस रिंक को पुनः शुरु करने का निर्णय लिया।
मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने कहा कि हमने दृढ़ संकल्प लिया था कि चाहे हमें विदेश से इंजीनियर्स ही क्यों न बुलाने पड़ें परंतु हम इस आइस स्केटिंग रिंक को पुनः शुरु करेंगे और हम ने इस दिशा में दृढ़ता से कार्य किया व सफल रहे। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि जिस प्रकार हमने राष्ट्रीय खेलों का आयोजन ग्रीन गेम्स की थीम पर किया था उसी प्रतिबद्धता को आगे बढ़ाते हुए इस आइस स्केटिंग रिंक को चलाने के लिए भी 1 मेगावाट का सोलर प्लांट स्थापित किया गया है। यह आइस स्केटिंग रिंक एक इंटरनेशनल स्टैंडर्ड का रिंक है, जो देश ही नहीं बल्कि, साउथ एशिया का भी शायद सबसे बड़ा स्केटिंग रिंक है। इस रिंक में खेलों के आयोजन हेतु आइस स्केटिंग फेडरेशन ऑफ इंडिया की ओर से विभाग को प्रस्ताव भी प्राप्त हुआ है। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि आने वाले समय में हमें इस रिंक में राष्ट्रीय एवं अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर की आइस स्केटिंग प्रतियोगिताओं का आयोजन देखने को मिलेगा। देवभूमि उत्तराखंड को खेलभूमि के रूप में स्थापित करने के हमारे विकल्प रहित संकल्प की पूर्ति में यह आइस स्केटिंग रिंक भी अपना अहम योगदान देगा। इस अवसर पर कैबिनेट मंत्री रेखा आर्या, विधायक उमेश शर्मा काउ,  विशेष प्रमुख सचिव अमित सिन्हा, अपर सचिव प्रशांत आर्य सहित खेल विभाग के अधिकारी एवं बड़ी संख्या में खिलाड़ी मौजूद रहे।
