मुख्यमंत्री ने रेल मंत्री से देहरादून से सहारनपुर को मोहण्ड होते हुए रेलवे से जोड़ने हेतु टनल आधारित रेल लाईन परियोजना ओर ऋषिकेश-उत्तरकाशी रेल लाईन परियोजना का शीघ्र परीक्षण कराकर इसके निर्माण की स्वीकृति प्रदान किए जाने का भी अनुरोध किया।

मुख्यमंत्री ने केंद्रीय रेल मंत्री से हरिद्वार से वाराणसी वंदे भारत रेल बजट प्रारंभ किए जाने का आग्रह करते हुए कहा कि इससे श्रद्धालुओं और पर्यटकों को बड़ी सुविधा मिलेगी।

मुख्यमंत्री धामी ने पूर्व में मिले सहयोग के लिए आभार व्यक्त करते हुए रेल मंत्री श्री अश्विनी वैष्णव से किच्छा-खटीमा नई रेल लाईन परियोजना की सम्पूर्ण लागत भारत सरकार द्वारा वहन किए जाने का आग्रह किया। उन्होंने अनुरोध किया कि रामनगर-हरिद्वार -देहरादून सीधी रेल सेवा संचालित की जाए।

पूर्णागिरी मेले की अवशेष आयोजन अवधि हेतु देश के विभिन्न स्थानों मुख्यतः नई दिल्ली, मथुरा एवं लखनऊ आदि से टनकपुर के लिए पर्याप्त संख्या में रेल सेवा का भी संचालन प्रारम्भ किया जाए।

मुख्यमंत्री ने उत्तराखंड में रेल सेवाओं पर रेल मंत्री के साथ चर्चा करते हुए कहा कि वर्तमान में कुमाऊं और गढ़वाल को जोड़ने के लिये देहरादून-काठगोदाम जनशताब्दी एक मात्र रेल सेवा है। कुमाऊं क्षेत्र के एक बड़े हिस्से के साथ-साथ नेपाल बोर्डर होने के कारण वहां के लोगों का आवागमन भी टनकपुर से ही होता है। इसलिए टनकपुर-देहरादून के मध्य एक जनशताब्दी रेल सेवा संचालित करना जरूरी है।

मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि राज्य के जनपद नैनीताल के रामनगर क्षेत्रान्तर्गत स्थित प्रसिद्ध पर्यटन स्थल जिम कार्बेट नेशनल पार्क में देश-विदेश से पर्यटकों का निरन्तर आवागमन होता है। अतः दिल्ली- रामनगर शताब्दी एक्सप्रेस रेल सेवा संचालित किया जाना अति आवश्यक है।

मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि देहरादून से नई दिल्ली तक रेल की यात्रा करने हेतु वर्तमान में हरिद्वार होकर जाना पड़ता है। हरिद्वार-देहरादून रेल लाईन सिंगल लेन है। देहरादून से हरिद्वार तक का अधिकांश अंश राजाजी नेशनल पार्क के अन्तर्गत होने के कारण वन्यजन्तु की सुरक्षा की दृष्टि से रेल की गति भी अत्यन्त नियंत्रित होती हैं। फलतः सम्पूर्ण यात्रा में अपेक्षाकृत अधिक समय लगता है। यदि देहरादून से मोहण्ड होते हुए सहारनपुर तक रेल लाईन जिसका कुछ भाग टनल के माध्यम से भी होगा, निर्मित कर दी जाती है तो नई दिल्ली एवं देहरादून के मध्य रेल द्वारा भी आवागमन अधिक त्वरित हो जायेगा। जिसके फलस्वरूप प्रदेश में पर्यटकों की आवाजाही सुविधाजनक होने के साथ-साथ व्यवसायिक गतिविधियों को भी बल मिलेगा। ऋषिकेश-कर्णप्रयाग रेल परियोजना में अपनायी जा रही टनल प्रणाली के समान ही देहरादून से सहारनपुर को मोहण्ड होते हुए रेलवे से जोड़ने हेतु टनल आधारित रेल लाईन परियोजना की संभाव्यता का परीक्षण कराकर परियोजना की स्वीकृति प्रदान की जाए।
